The Journey of a Medical Education Pioneer

Born in November 1970 in Delhi to a Chartered Accountant father and an educated mother with an M.A. in Economics, Vishal Saxena’s journey has been one of constant evolution and purpose-driven growth.

His educational path took him through prestigious English-medium convent schools across Delhi, followed by a B.Com (Honors) degree from Delhi University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) from a reputed B-School in Delhi.

While initially drawn to following his father’s footsteps as a Chartered Accountant, Mr. Saxena’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to explore various business ventures – from garments manufacturing and retailing to financial services and real estate development. Each venture, whether successful or challenging, contributed valuable lessons and experiences that would later shape his approach to education consulting.

Discovering Purpose in Medical Education

After exploring various business domains, Mr. Saxena found his true calling in the education sector over 20 years ago. What began as a new business venture quickly transformed into a lifelong passion as he immersed himself in understanding the intricacies of educational consulting and career counseling.

Recognizing the particular challenges faced by medical aspirants, he developed specialized expertise in guiding students through the complex landscape of medical admissions. His approach went beyond standard counseling – he took time to understand each student's unique circumstances, abilities, and dreams.

Over the years, Mr. Saxena has built strong relationships with universities and colleges across India and internationally, including institutions in the Philippines, Nepal, Russia, Ukraine, China, UK, Ghana, Nigeria, and other countries. These connections have enabled him to provide students with a wide range of options tailored to their specific profiles.

From Concern to Action

Throughout his years of counseling thousands of medical aspirants, Mr. Saxena was deeply troubled by a recurring pattern – witnessing bright, deserving students unable to pursue their medical dreams due to financial constraints.

This concern weighed heavily on his conscience and ultimately gave birth to the idea of crowd-funding for medical education. In 2022, he established the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Shiksha Saksharta Mission (ABVSSM), a platform dedicated to solving the financial challenges faced by meritorious students aspiring to secure seats in medical colleges in India and abroad.

Through ABVSSM, Mr. Saxena has committed to bridging the gap between medical aspirations and financial realities, helping create more doctors for a nation already grappling with healthcare shortages.
